The principal of Macleay Vocational College in Kempsey, near Port Macquarie, is tireless in finding new ways to support the 100+ students at his school.
Many of them have been through very tough times and he does all he can to ensure they still get a great education. He's instituted flexible schedules so young mums can keep coming to school. He keeps the doors of the school open till 7pm each day, and on Sunday and holidays - even on Christmas Day - and is always on call when a student needs him.
Says Laihla Cox, head girl this past year: "Mark is a selfless man with such a big heart! He is incredible at his job and Mark is super special to us because he understands each and every one of us like no one else can."
No wonder he was also Kempsey's 2016 Citizen of the Year.
