We run workshops with class groups during school hours. These workshops are either one-offs for two hours of hectic writing fun, or term-long programs where students develop a more complex piece of writing.
For an hour between 3.30pm and 5pm on any Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday during the school term the walls of the Martian Embassy veritably ring with the noise of keen young writers firing ideas left and right and volunteer writing tutors cheering them on.
On Sundays we offer workshops morning and afternoon, for young writers ages eight to 14. They run every Sunday in parallel with the school term.
During any holidays, while tumbleweeds are rolling through the abandoned playgrounds of schools all over the land, budding writers are applying themselves to the task in workshops at the Martian Embassy.
To make sure we're providing creative writing opportunities for the young people who most stand to benefit we run a number of workshop programs in collaboration with partner organisations.
The Sydney Story Factory is all about encouraging young people everywhere to write, write, write. For those who can't get to one of our workshops in Redfern, or who have started doing some writing and just don't want to stop, we offer one-to-one tutoring over email.
