Free Writers Guild

Attention Year 12 who are working on creative writing around Belonging!
Attention all readers and writers Year 4-12!
Sundays at SSF the FWG ( Free Writers Guild) meet between 10 and 12 noon to write.
Some of us have an idea and work on a long piece over a month, others work with a trigger to complete a story, poem, or dramatic monologue over a few weeks.
Your first readers; our dedicated tutors will help you develop and refine your work and share their extensive writing tools.

Radio With Pictures with NCIE (week 6) – Booked Out

With the help of artists, audio folk and awesome tutors, each group of students will create a series of animated stories…and we’ll be collecting the stories for a screening later in the year. Details of the screening to come, but we’re pretty excited already!
3:30pm-4:30pm * Grades 3-6

Diabolical Dialogue (week 6)

HE SAID, SHE ASKED, IT GROWLED!
You’ve got a great plot, wonderful descriptions of the setting, some fabulous characters…but what do they say to each other?! Are they funny? Haughty? Irritating? How do you give their conversations a bit of spark? This script writing workshop will offer students the secrets of writing great dialogue.
3:30pm-4:30pm * Grades 5-7

Lions and Clowns and Octopi – Oh My! (week 6) – Booked Out

All you scurvy dogs prepare to enter the Big Top! We’ll write a travel journal, but not as you know it; part circus itinerary, part Captain’s log book. Prepare to adopt the identities of infamous circus performers and pirate Captains as we explore the world of the travelling circus and dive into life at sea.
3:30pm-4:30pm * Grades 3-6

The Big Weird Story Challenge (week 6) – Booked Out

Pretty simple, this is the workshop for all those people who “just want to write a story”. We’ll be creating a world and filling it with amazing characters, mind-bending events and unforgettable endings. Come along, bring your best tales and prepare to write until your fingers ache! Oh the joy of achy fingers…
3:30pm-4:30pm * Grades 3 and above
