MEMOIR, WITHOUT THE SLEEPY BITS (3)
This term we’ll be taking a look-see at the genuine, searching for those real stories you find yourself sharing again and again. Tell us about those boots you insisted on wearing to bed when you were five, or about the first time you got dumped by a wave. We’re after the tastes and textures you can’t forget. FREE.
For students grades 3-8.
To enrol in this class, email workshops@sydneystoryfactory.org.au.
Volunteer Professional Learning Workshop: Frank Pearce
We are very lucky to have Frank Pearce delivering our next volunteer workshop on working with Aboriginal children. Frank left school at 14 after experiencing racism, but went back to finish his high school certificate at 32, while working 12-hour shifts on Sydney buses. He graduated with a Bachelor of Education aged 50, and now teaches at universities, building teaching students’ awareness of the cultural issues around working with Aboriginal children. Frank has held very senior positions in Aboriginal education in NSW, and Jeff McMullen calls him “an inspiring educational leader”.
All volunteers are welcome to come to his free talk, 7-8.30pm on Monday, 20th May, at the SSF.
Places are limited so please RSVP to carolina@sydneystoryfactory.org.au.
