Judge a Book, Buy its Cover

Children’s books always find a way into your heart and your imagination. This is what inspired our upcoming art exhibition, Judge a Book, Buy its Cover. We asked Sydneysiders to vote for their best-loved children’s books and compiled a list of our 50 favourites.  We gave the list to some of Australia’s most distinguished artists, and asked them to choose one book and create either a new cover image for it, or an artwork inspired by it. Judge a Book, Buy its Cover is a fundraising art exhibition showcasing these brilliant reinterpretations of the books that defined our childhoods.
The exhibition runs from Wednesday, October 16 – Saturday, October 19, 2013 at Depot II, 2 Danks Street, Waterloo.  All works are for sale by silent auction in the gallery and online, with bidding closing at 5 pm on Saturday, October 19, 2013.  All proceeds will go to fund our free creative writing programs for young people.   The website  www.32auctions.com/ssf will be live from Friday, October 11, 2013.

Featuring works by Brett Whiteley, Tim Storrier, Jasper Knight, Wendy Sharpe, Peter Kingston, Narelle Autio, Polixeni Papapetrou, Euan Macleod and more.
