It’s Time to Eat Your Words

We need your help to open Sydney Story Factory Parramatta. Host an Eat Your Words event in May and help us light the spark of creativity and change the lives of thousands of young people in Western Sydney for years to come.

What’s an Eat Your Words event?

It’s an easy, fun way of combining some of your favourite things. You like eating, right? And you like getting together with friends and family? Plus, you want to make a difference in the community.

So this May put all those things together and host a dinner, or a picnic, or a Sunday lunch, or a morning tea at work – really, any kind of foodie event that works for you! – and raise money for Sydney Story Factory Parramatta.

How much are we trying to raise?

Last year Eat Your Words hosts and their guests raised over $7,000. That money went to publishing the seven novellas created in our first ever Year of the Novella project. Awesome!

This year we want to raise $10,000 to help us open the doors of Sydney Story Factory Parramatta, and run our first year of programs. We need to raise over two million dollars in total and we’re already more than half way there. Every Eat Your Words event will take us another big step forward to meeting our goal. Every single penny counts!

How does it work?

It’s simple. Go to our dedicated fundraising page at Shout For Good and register your event. Then you can get on with the good stuff – planning your menu and drawing up your guest list.

Invite your friends by email, on Facebook, whatever works for you, and ask them to make a donation to Sydney Story Factory. You’ll get a link from Shout For Good that you can pass on to make this really easy. And for every donation of $2 or more your guests will receive a tax deductible receipt.

Ahead of your event, we’ll send you a pack of goodies – placemats, a word game, and stories by our young writers – to dazzle your guests and give your dinner party a uniquely Story Factory literary edge.
