It's official. State of Mind, the book, is now launched!
In Term 4 we've wrapped up what's been an absolutely amazing two year project with return visits to regional NSW and a big fat launch party in Fairfield. Par-tee time!
We went back to Brewarrina, Coonamble, Wee Waa, Gilgandra, Coffs Harbour, Casino and Kempsey. Students at every school kept the creativity flowing with us using the stories in State of Mind to create erasure poems. And, they whizzed off some 6-word selfies while they were at it.
And we invited schools from all over Sydney and Western Sydney to join us at Powerhouse Youth Theatre, Fairfield, for an official launch event. There were speeches, and more erasure poems, and 6-word selfies. And there were fantastic readings from authors who had seen their work in print for the first time. Oh, and there were doughnuts.
Every single author at our launches received a copy of a handsomely presented journal bringing together the poems, stories and memoirs from every student who participated in writing workshops in 2016 at their school.
Everyone was just blown away to see their writing honoured and presented back to them in a professionally published format. So proud.
Imagine how chuffed they were too when they discovered their stories, and stories from their own home town, included in State of Mind, the book, knowing that they'll be read by hundreds more teenagers all over New South Wales.
