We're really excited to be working with one of our longest running collaborators the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy (NASCA) again in terms 2 and 3, 2017.
This time we'll be running creative writing workshops with Aboriginal teenagers they support at Alexandria Park Community School, Marrickville High and Tempe High. The workshops were co-designed with NASCA and students will be guided to tell their story and imagine their futures while also exploring different ways of paying respect to family, ancestors and country. As the workshops progress students will move through telling and writing stories, to performing and sharing their finished works with the group and with community.
At the conclusion of each 6-week workshop program, we'll all come together to celebrate with a graduation presentation and the student's work will be published on our website, including via audio podcasts/videos.
This program is generously supported by the Sydney Mechanics' School of Arts.
