What do volunteers do?

Most of our volunteers help with tutoring, working shoulder-to shoulder with the students to help them write the most exciting stories of their lives! We also need volunteers in other areas: shop staff, illustrators, stall hosts, typists, and occasionally even someone to act as Marcia the Martian Librarian!

What kind of time commitment do you require from volunteers?

Ideally we are looking for volunteers who can commit to term-long workshops, usually two hours a week, during business hours, throughout the school term.

If you’re interested take a look at our info and fill out a form here:

http://www.sydneystoryfactory.org.au/about-volunteering/

We’ll then send you an email letting you know the next available interview and orientation dates.

Why do I need to get a working with children/ police check?

The Sydney Story Factory is a safe place for students and legally any volunteers are required to get a Working with Children Check. The check is free for volunteers and can be obtained at any Roads and Maritime Services centre in NSW.
